We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about welcoming newcomers
to our community. KIS Mentorship program empowers, inspires and builds friendships
by matching mentors and mentees based on common interests. It is up to you and your
mentee to decide where you want to meet, what you want to do and for how long!
Who is a mentoring volunteer:
- A person who lives in Kamloops
- Someone who wants to learn more about other cultures
- Someone who is interested in sharing life experience, skills and hobbies.
- A person who wants to help someone adjust to living in a new country
Benefits of being Mentor:

- Learn about other cultures
- Enhance someone’s English skills, interests and hobbies.
- Earn volunteer hours

Mentor & Mentee can meet:
- For conversation practice at a local coffee shop, park, library…
- To learn practice skills; how to take the bus, where to buy groceries…
- For fun activities; going to movies, community events…
How to Join:
- Fill out a mentor volunteer application
- Have a criminal record check done by the RCMP (free as a volunteer)
- Have an interview with the Community Connections Coordinator to assist with matching mentee.
