The KIS Education Legacy Bursary honours the contributions of past Board members and staff, inspired by former Executive Director Paul Lagacé, whose leadership reflected courage, wisdom, and opportunity.
Each year, Kamloops Immigrant Services awards two bursaries of $1,000 to newcomer students entering their first or second year of a post-secondary degree or diploma.
This bursary invests in education, confidence, and long-term success by helping open doors for newcomer students as they pursue their goals.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Be a newcomer to Canada • Be entering their first or second year of a post-secondary degree or diploma program • Demonstrate commitment to education, community, and future goals

Note
• Candidates cannot be employees, family of employees, or Board members of KCRIS. • KIS staff is unable to provide character reference letters for applicants. • Permanent Residents, Naturalized Citizens and 1st Generation Canadians who live in the Thompson-Nicola region can apply. • The bursary is awarded upon proof of registration from the institution’s registrar, and will be disbursed directly to the educational institution. • Successful recipients are welcome to re-apply in subsequent years. • Should you withdraw from the educational institution, please contact KIS to discuss your options
