Who Are Refugees

Refugees are “people who have fled war, violence, conflict or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety in another country. They often have had to flee with little more than the clothes on their back, leaving behind homes, possessions, jobs and loved ones. Refugees are defined and protected in international law” (UNHCR).

Kamloops Immigrant Services can help individuals and groups sponsor a refugee or refugee family. We also assist individuals and families in applying for refugee status, and we provide information and assistance to existing refugee claimants.

For assistance, contact Kamloops Immigrant Services at (778) 470-6101.
