Hippy Program

Free Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a FREE program that works with families in their home to support parents in their critical role as their child’s first and most important teacher.

HIPPY Kamloops started in April 2024. The program provides newcomers with information that helps reduce language and cultural barriers, helps inform participants of other services in the community, raises awareness of “how things work” in Canada, and encourages newcomers to actively participate in the community and in the school.

What The Program Offers

In the program, HIPPY Home Visitor works with the mother enrolled into the program for 1 hour per week, one-on-one, in the mother’s (parent’s) home for 30 weeks role-playing the curriculum activities. The mother/father will then spend 15-20 minutes per day teaching the same curriculum to the child.

Home visits every week

A trained Home Visitor will bring the material to the families’ home and role play the activities with one of the parents.
