“I kept positive & determined”

“In 2019 I visited KIS Settlement team and met with the Employment Counsellor. As a young mother when we moved to Canada I stayed home for two years and I had no work experience in Canada. My Employment Counsellor was very supportive. She helped me gain confidence in my skills and she showed me tricks to update my resume and cover letter. We practiced interview questions too. During our meetings I learned the best way of looking for a job and what it looks like to work in Canada. When I was feeling comfortable and a bit more confident and I was apply for jobs that I really liked, I was called in for an interview. Shortly after I started a great job in a retail store that I still love today and I also have a chance to develop my skills as a supervisor from time to time and I like that very much.”
