Employment series
KIS hosts monthly workshops, courses, classes and presentations related to employment skills development, workplace culture, and job search techniques. The workshop format makes services accessible if clients are facing barriers and challenges that prevent them from attending one-on-one appointments. The activities also allow to work and network with peers.
Clients have access to all workshops offered through KIS including soft skills development, employment standards, and any other topics that may be helpful to the client’s success with employment. Local groups and organizations that work in collaboration with KIS facilitate most workshops.
Basic workplace certifications courses such as, First Aid, WHIMIS, Food Safe are also offered through our program.
Additionally, the KIS Mentorship program supports client employment readiness and can match a client with a mentor specifically to gain a better understanding of the current job market in their field of interest, learn more about Canadian workplace culture and occupational practices, establish valuable networking contacts, and receive ongoing support and guidance in finding the best work possible.
Community Connections continues to be a vital part of the Settlement and Integration Program.
