KIS programs funded by donations:

KIS Dignity Fund

The Dignity Fund helps newcomers and refugee families meet essential needs that are not covered by government programs. Many families arrive in Kamloops with very limited resources. Your donation supports urgent and meaningful needs such as therapy and counselling, registration fees for children’s activities, food security, winter clothing, transit passes, medical appointment support, short term childcare, and access to technology for school or work. The fund also provides extra support for refugee families who often face greater financial pressures as they resettle. Your contribution brings stability, dignity, and hope to people building their new lives in our community.

Bridges to Employment Scholarship

Inspired by the advocacy and teachings of Bernard Igwe, this fund helps low income newcomers access education and training that strengthens their path to employment. Your donation supports vocational courses, tools and equipment, PPE, workwear, and other work required items. This fund also provides scholarships for newcomers who wish to continue their English studies beyond CLB Level 8 to improve employability or pursue further education. A gift of fifty to five hundred dollars can remove a barrier that stands between someone and stable employment.

Education Legacy Bursary

This bursary honors the leadership and contributions of past Board members and staff, inspired by former Executive Director Paul Lagacé whose work emphasized courage, wisdom, and opportunity. Your donation contributes to two annual bursaries of one thousand dollars each for newcomer students entering the first or second year of a post secondary degree or diploma. This support helps open doors to education, confidence, and long term success.

Neighbors in Need: Ukraine

The conflict in Ukraine continues to displace families, and many are still arriving in Kamloops in need of safety and support. Your donation helps us provide immediate assistance, including temporary housing, basic necessities, emergency medical support, and settlement services. Each contribution helps Ukrainian families find stability and begin rebuilding their lives in our community.
